500 meter swim, 20 km bike, 6 km run

This is my first triathlon I came in 176th overall and 11th in my age group of 25-29. I raced the Sprint course. I completed in about 1 hour 39 minutes and 43 seconds, which I'm happy with. The swim was killer, I had to resort to the backstroke a couple of times to get through it, but I wasn't last out of the swim, so that's always a good thing. Then when I hit the bike, my legs felt like a ton of bricks, but I found my stride. I started passing some people on the bike, but toward the end my right knee started hurting. During the transition to the run, I took off running with my helmet on, so I had to go back and throw it down (rookie mistake). The run was killing me but my sisters and Mom were all along the course cheering me on. My knee starting really killing me during the run, but I didn't walk at all, so I'm proud of that. I sprinted hard the last 100 yards. It was a good feeling to complete it. I can't wait for the next one! When I got home my right knee started really killing me, so I iced it and rested it, hope it's not a long term problem.

1/4 mile swim, 9 mile bike, 3 mile run

This race was short but fast. An ocean surf entry was different, but the waves weren't too bad when I started in the first wave. My HR was up around 170-175, which is definitely the highest I've ever raced at. I didn't have to resort to the backstroke and I was able to swim freestyle the whole way. It was a long run to the transition area and my thighs felt like concrete on the bike. I started to find my groove, drinking VW started to burn my throat, but it gave me some extra energy for the final run stage. My run went better than at SDI, despite only running about 4 times in the past month. The goods news was that my knee didn't hurt nearly as much as at SDI. The last hundred yards I broke into my all out sprint. My HR monitor gave me an approximate time of 1:10.
